Madley Marvelous is not based on conventional memoir or pop culture critique. Within its pages Zakowska gives an overview of her approach to designing a look and a character for the show. There are multitudes of sketches and behind the scenes looks at what it takes to accomplish this feat.
Those who are fans of Mrs. Maisel will enjoy a recap of looks from earlier seasons and get the inside scoop of what each costume was trying to convey. For example Midge’s arrival in Miami was meant to invoke a caped superhero appearling to successfully meet any challenge before her. However, this is definitely a coffee table book. Don’t expect to read through it like a traditional novel. Instead pick it up and browse the contents within. Use it as insight to well-regarded tv shows and perhaps leave inspired to run to a sewing machine to find their inner Mrs. Maisel
